Determining vehicle value

Assessment of the market value of a car, motorcycle, special-purpose vehicle or other vehicle, considering condition, mileage, equipment, market and documents.

What the work includes

The examination uses the vehicle, photographs, documents, inspection records, insurer calculations, repair orders, case materials and questions raised.

  • analysis of documents, VIN, equipment, mileage and vehicle condition;
  • examination of damage, photographs and repair documents;
  • calculation of market value, repair cost, damage, diminished value or salvage value;
  • checking whether existing calculations are substantiated;
  • preparation of a report, expert report review or analytical position.

Typical questions

  • the vehicle's market value as of a particular date;
  • repair cost;
  • the amount of damage to the vehicle;
  • whether diminished value exists;
  • whether the conclusions of an earlier examination or valuation are substantiated.
Important: questions about fault, speed, accident mechanics and the technical possibility of avoiding a collision fall within vehicle engineering or trace examination.

Pricing

from RUB 25,000. The exact fee depends on vehicle type, extent of damage, need for inspection, number of questions and urgency.

Information that makes vehicle comparisons substantiated

To determine value, first record the date, examination purpose and the vehicle's characteristics. Model and year of manufacture are insufficient: comparisons depend on variant, engine, transmission, equipment, mileage, condition and known damage history. Information from documents, inspection and the owner's explanations is retained with its source identified.

When using market information, establish exactly what is offered: a specific vehicle, an equipment variant or an advertised price subject to additional conditions. An asking price is not equivalent to a confirmed completed-transaction price. Record significant offer conditions together with the data acquisition date.

What to check in a comparable vehicle

  • Matching variant and significant equipment.
  • Year of manufacture, mileage and described condition.
  • Damage, repairs and missing equipment, where stated.
  • Offer region and sale conditions.
  • Source publication or capture date.
  • Justification for differences accounted for in the comparison.

Do not automatically assume an unspecified characteristic matches. If few reliably comparable offers exist, reflect this in the calculation's basis. Adjustments should explain the effect of significant differences, rather than simply bring several prices to a predetermined figure.

For examination as of a past date, information relating to that date is particularly important. Current listings may describe a different market situation and a different vehicle condition. The final document must clearly identify the selected sources, their dates and limitations affecting the certainty of the result.

Additional equipment must be documented so its presence and effect on value can be checked. Details of its model, condition and installation as of the relevant date are useful. An accessory's purchase price does not automatically equal an increase in the vehicle's resale value. If the selected comparables already include similar equipment, accounting for the same feature again requires separate justification.

Consultation

Send vehicle documents and photos

Describe the task and attach damage photos, the vehicle passport/registration certificate (PTS/STS), accident documents, inspection record, insurer's estimate, repair order, court order or another expert's report.

  • vehicle value;
  • repair cost;
  • accident damage, diminished value and salvage value;
  • review of another expert's report.

How data is processed: Personal Data Processing Policy. Provide only the necessary photographs and documents, redacting other people's unnecessary information.

Up to 10 files of 10 MB each, with a total limit of 15 MB. Attach damage photos and available vehicle documents; arrange transfer of larger materials separately.

Attachments: up to 10 files of up to 10 MB each, with a maximum combined size of 15 MB. If a file is rejected, the enquiry is not sent.
